Alabama News Center — Chef teams finalists announced for upcoming ninth annual Alabama Seafood Cook-Off
Four Alabama chef teams are set to compete in the ninth Annual Alabama Seafood Cook-Off (ASCO) May 6 at The Wharf in Orange Beach.
WARM WEATHER HERE TO STAY: Afternoon highs will remain in the 80s across Alabama for at least the next 7-10 days as our summer preview continues. Today will feature a mix of sun and clouds much like yesterday; then we bring in a chance of showers statewide tonight and tomorrow as a weak front approaches.
Severe weather will be active in our west again today, but hopefully, there will be nothing like the last night in Oklahoma with 17 tornadoes. Some of the strong storms could limp into western Alabama tomorrow morning, with wind being the threat.
The severe weather threat shifts a little east today, from southeastern Iowa and western Illinois across much of Missouri, eastern Kansas, eastern Oklahoma, and eastern Texas into western Arkansas and northwestern Louisiana. Today’s greatest tornado threat will exist from St Louis down to Shreveport, Alexandria, Waco, and Dallas.
On the satellite at midday, we see partly sunny skies across the area as there are plenty of fair-weather cumulus clouds mixed in with some higher and thinner clouds.
Central Alabama is in for a stretch of calm and warm weather, thanks to a nearby high-pressure system, with a chance of isolated showers and storms later in the week as a cold front approaches.
THIS AFTERNOON: The weather is warm and dry across Alabama this afternoon with temperatures in the 80s. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 60s.
For the rest of today, expect more sun than clouds with afternoon highs in the low to mid 80s. Rain chances are very low, but not zero, so a stray shower or two is possible.
