The severe weather threat shifts a little east today, from southeastern Iowa and western Illinois across much of Missouri, eastern Kansas, eastern Oklahoma, and eastern Texas into western Arkansas and northwestern Louisiana. Today’s greatest tornado threat will exist from St Louis down to Shreveport, Alexandria, Waco, and Dallas.
On the satellite at midday, we see partly sunny skies across the area as there are plenty of fair-weather cumulus clouds mixed in with some higher and thinner clouds.
Central Alabama is in for a stretch of calm and warm weather, thanks to a nearby high-pressure system, with a chance of isolated showers and storms later in the week as a cold front approaches.
THIS AFTERNOON: The weather is warm and dry across Alabama this afternoon with temperatures in the 80s. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 60s.
For the rest of today, expect more sun than clouds with afternoon highs in the low to mid 80s. Rain chances are very low, but not zero, so a stray shower or two is possible.
SUMMER PREVIEW: We project afternoon highs in the 82-86 degree range for Alabama today through Sunday with partly sunny days and fair nights. Showers will be very hard to find; the chance of any one spot getting wet each day is less than 10 percent.
WARM APRIL DAY: Temperatures are generally in the 78-85 degree range across Alabama this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. A few showers are over the far northwest part of the state from near Vernon to Florence, but the rest of the state is dry.
It has been mainly sunny through the morning hours across Alabama, but we are stating to see some clouds increase from the west. For the rest of today, expect a mix of sun and clouds with afternoon highs in the low 80s.
CALM SPRING WEATHER: We project a high in the 80-84 degree range across Alabama today with a party sunny sky. An isolated shower can’t be ruled out this afternoon, but the chance of any one spot seeing rain is only 5-10 percent, and not really worth mentioning in the forecast.
PLEASANT SPRING AFTERNOON: We have a mix of sun and clouds across Alabama this afternoon; we note one small lone shower over Sumter County at mid-afternoon, otherwise nothing on radar despite a surface front over the central counties. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 50s.
A weak cold front continues to drop south through Alabama today, bringing more clouds in the sky. However, with very limited moisture, we are not expecting anything but small, isolated showers through the afternoon and evening hours.
ON THE MAP: We have a surface front over Tennessee early this morning; we note a few showers south and east of Nashville. Alabama is dry with a clear sky along with temperatures in the 50s. The front will drift down into our state later today, but with hardly any available moisture, we just don’t expect anything but small, isolated showers
ALL IS CALM: Another sunny day for Alabama; temperatures are in the 70s this afternoon. Tonight will be clear with a low in the 45-55 degree range.
