SHOWERS ON THE WAY OUT: A deep upper low is moving over North Alabama this afternoon, and under the cold pool aloft we have a few lingering showers on radar over the eastern counties of the state. But, there are scattered pockets of sunshine, and most of South Alabama is enjoying a sunny afternoon. Showers will end this evening, and dry air moves into the state tonight with a clearing sky.

While we have mostly gray skies across all of Central Alabama at this point on the first Friday of 2019, we do have a few showers showing up on radar over much of Tuscaloosa and Bibb counties, with some lighter showers and drizzle surrounding those showers.

CLOUDS, SOME LIGHT RAIN TODAY: While the big mass of soaking rain has moved out of Alabama, we will still deal with lingering clouds and some patchy light rain today as an upper trough moves over the state. Temperatures will hold in the 50s over North Alabama, with 60s for the southern counties. The sky will clear tonight as a nice surge of dry air works into the state.
Isolated damaging wind gusts and perhaps a brief tornado are possible as the convective line continues eastward into southeast GA and the central FL Peninsula.
