A Quick Update at Midday
The rain associated with Tropical Storm Ida continues to slowly crawl northward with a slight jog to the east, as now we have some light shower activity just east of the I-65 corridor.

Heavy rainfall from Ida has created very saturated soils across the area. Ponding of water on roadways should be expected with drainage ditches becoming full.
At this time, if you are east of the I-65 corridor in Central Alabama, you are staying dry on this Monday morning so far. Most locations west of I-65 are getting a decent bit of rainfall from the outer edge of Tropical Storm Ida.
Satellite-derived wind data indicate that the depression (TD-10) has strengthened and is now Tropical Storm Kate. Maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 45 mph with higher gusts.
EYES STILL ON IDA: Ida is now a tropical storm this morning over South Mississippi; it will move to a point near Muscle Shoals early tomorrow, keeping Alabama on the wet, unsettled side of the system. Rain is widespread early this morning over West and Southwest Alabama, and that rain will slowly spread over the rest of the state later today and tonight, continuing at times tomorrow.
