While a few flurries may still be falling over the northern portions of the area, much of the activity has shifted southward in the form of some very light showers or sprinkles mainly south of the I-59/I-20 and I-20 corridors.
The WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been extended until 9 pm CST for the following counties in the Tennessee Valley region: Cullman, DeKalb, Jackson, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan.
NWS Huntsville will allow the Winter Weather Advisory to expire at 7 pm for all of their counties in the Tennessee Valley, but will issue a new one until 9 pm for the eastern portions of their area as there is some snow redevelopment as far west as the western parts of Cullman and Morgan counties.
From the Jackson County EMA, all roads in Jackson County up in Northeast Alabama have been deemed impassible by tonight’s wintry mischief.

A snowy Monday across the Tennessee Valley area… Some of the snow causing some trouble out there on the highways and streets. Please use extreme caution if having to get out on the roads this evening.
Some wintry precipitation continues to fall over the northern-third of Alabama this afternoon, and we are starting to get some reports in about slick spots.
Some light snow accumulations have been reported across northern Mississippi. Some snow bursts could occur this afternoon across the northern third of Alabama as well. While no major impacts are expected, use caution if traveling in our Tennessee Valley Counties where a dusting to 1/2 inch of snow could occur.
Still cold, but most locations are finally above freezing with upper 30s to lower 40s common across North/Central Alabama. An “Alberta Clipper” is bringing clouds into Alabama today, along with a little light snow, or snow flurries to the northern third of the state this afternoon and early tonight.
I feel like I’m playing matchmaker and I’m just giddy with excitement waiting to introduce two folks that I just know are going to be perfect for one another.
Chilly and cloudy across the area today, but we get to see big jumps in our afternoon highs this week. A lucky few may even see the lower 70s on New Year’s Eve.
