Warm, Mostly Dry Tomorrow

| May 10, 2016 @ 3:19 pm

RADAR CHECK: It is a warm and dry afternoon across the great state of Alabama; nothing is showing up on radar at 3:00 p.m., and temperatures are mostly in the low 80s.

The weather won’t change much tomorrow; any showers will be few and far between, and temperatures will reach the mid 80s. A few communities could even see upper 80s. Like today, we expect a mix of sun and clouds.

THURSDAY: An approaching front will bring our best chance of rain this week late Thursday and Thursday night. Latest data hints much of the day Thursday will be dry; the main chance of showers and storms will come after 6:00 p.m. There is a “marginal risk” of severe storms defined by SPC across the northern quarter of the state.

We could see a few strong storms Thursday evening with gusty winds, but the overall severe threat is pretty low as the main dynamic support will pass well to the north of Alabama. Rain amounts of around 1/2 inch are likely Thursday night.

FRIDAY: The sky becomes partly sunny as drier air drops in from the north; showers will shift down into South Alabama. The humidity will be lower, and the high will be close to 80.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: More very nice weather with sunny days and clear nights. Saturday’s high will be in the 77-80 degree range, followed by low 80s Sunday. Early mornings will be cool with temperatures down in the mid 50s.

NEXT WEEK: The weather will be warm and dry Monday, but showers and storms will move back into the state Tuesday. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

AT THE BEACH: A few scattered showers/storms are possible Friday, otherwise mostly sunny days and fair nights from Panama City Beach over to Gulf Shores through early next week. Highs on the immediate coast will be close to 80, with mid 80s inland. See a very detailed Gulf Coast forecast here.

REGIONS TRADITION: The Regions Tradition will be held this year at the Greystone Golf and Country Club May 18-22… too early for a specific forecast, but climatology suggests highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s during that part of May. Get more information about the tournament here.
