RADAR CHECK: We have a few scattered showers south of I-20 at mid-afternoon, but the most widespread rain is over South Alabama.

Any lingering showers will end this evening, and most places will be dry tonight.

TOMORROW/THURSDAY: These two days will be warm and humid with a mix of sun and clouds. Any showers will be few and far between; most communities won’t see any rain, and highs will be in the low 80s. Maybe mid 80s in spots.

FRIDAY: Rain and thunderstorms will become widespread across the state as a wave of low pressure and upper trough move in from the west. We project rain amounts in the 1 to 2 inch range, and severe weather is not expected. This will be the problem day for golf, baseball, graduations, or anything else outside. We won’t get out of the 70s because of the clouds and showers.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Just an outside risk of a stray shower Saturday morning, otherwise we expect a clearing sky Saturday with a high in the 77-80 degree range. Then, Sunday will feature a sunny sky, lower humidity, and a high close to 80 degrees.

NEXT WEEK: Warm, dry weather continues Monday and Tuesday… we could see a few showers later in the week as moisture levels rise. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

AT THE BEACH: About 4 to 6 hours of sunshine tomorrow and Thursday from Gulf Shores to Panama City Beach with a few scattered showers and thunderstorms. Rain and storms are likely Friday, followed by mostly dry weather Saturday. Sunday will feature sunshine in full supply. For the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Friday will be the weather problem day with numerous showers and storms. Highs will be close to 80 degrees… See a very detailed Gulf Coast forecast here.

REGIONS TRADITION: The Regions Tradition will be held this year at the Greystone Golf and Country Club tomorrow through the weekend… Just a slight risk of a shower tomorrow and Thursday… these two days should be generally dry with a mix of sun and clouds. The best chance of showers and storms will come on Friday. Then, the weather trends drier for the weekend; only a small risk of a stray shower Saturday morning, followed by a sunny sky Sunday. Highs will generally be in the low 80s, although upper 70s are expected Friday due to clouds and showers. Get more information about the tournament here.

SEC BASEBALL TOURNAMENT: Coming up at the Hoover Met May 24-29… the weather looks warm and dry Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (May 24-26); a few scattered showers are possible Friday and over the weekend (May 27-29), but for now we see nothing to suggest anything really widespread. Highs will be in the 80s. Get information about the big event here.
