A “stage two” drought advisory is now in effect for Birmingham Water Works customers…

“The lack of rainfall and continued high water demands in the water system, the Birmingham Water Works (BWW) is now implementing the next stage of their drought plan. The Stage-2 Drought Watch continues voluntary reduction in usage measures; however, it does begin the two-day per week odd/even outdoor watering schedule and no watering should be done between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., along with no outdoor watering on Wednesday, Saturdays and Sundays.

“As October is a month where rainfall is rare, we encourage customers to make use of all the water they have, but to be smart when using it,” said Darryl Jones, Assistant General Manager of Operations and Technical Services.

While no rainfall projected over the next seven to ten days, customers are asked to be more proactive in their conservation efforts pertaining to their water usage. Addresses ending in an even number should water established lawns and landscaping on Mondays and Thursdays. Addresses ending in an odd number should water established lawns and landscaping on Tuesdays and Fridays.
