Showers continue over North Alabama this morning…additional showers over eastern Mississippi wil be moving into West Alabama…

The first batch of showers was over Limestone, Madison, Lawrence, Morgan, Cullman and Winston counties. Rainfall rates were generally less than 0.25 inches per hour, with up to one half inch per hour in the heavier showers.

The second batch was generally between Ackerman, Columbus and DeKalb. It will move into Alabama’s Pickens and Lamar Counties between 7 and 9 a.m. this morning. It should be gradually diminishing, but will bring light showers to some of the same areas that have already received them this morning. Lightning doesn’t appear to be a problem, but don’t be surprised if you hear a rumble of thunder.

An upper level trough to the west of Alabama and a series of upper level disturbances are responsible for creating the shower activity.

Early morning temperatures were in the 60s.
