New Severe Thunderstorm Watch Will Likely Be Issued Soon for Parts of Alabama

| March 9, 2017 @ 11:01 pm

The SPC says that a new severe thunderstorm watch will be issued soon that could include northern Mississippi and northern Alabama.

Our line of severe storms constitutes to drop quickly southeast towards North Alabama. In the large panel of the graphic you can see the severe thunderstorm warnings outlined in yellow. No tornado warnings at this time

The area outlined in red in the top left panel of the graphic is the most likely area to be included in the watch. The counties outlined in blue are still in severe thunderstorm watches.

Instabilities are low ahead of the line of storms (middle panel left side). Wind shear and instability values decrease the further southeast you go.

The greatest threat is damaging winds, but there could be some hail as well. Can’t rule out an isolated tornado over Tennessee, but the threat in Alabama is nearly non-existent.

Stay with us through the night for the latest severe weather information.
