Significant Flooding Across Parts of Jefferson and Shelby Counties

Flooding from early morning rains has created big problems in parts of Jefferson and Shelby Counties.

This is flooding along eastbound lanes of Valleydale Road near I-65 in northern Shelby County from Nicole Scorby (@scrosby) on Twitter.

Flooding is reported in western Birmingham near the Fairgrounds on 21st Street SW and Woodland Avenue.

Water rescues had to be performed at 24th Street SW and Wesley Avenue.

Water is in homes in Hueytown along Mississippi Avenue. Homeowners are being advised to evacuate according to John Talbot.

The good news is that rain is diminishing but the flooding will continue for some time.
