Nate Makes Second Landfall; Surge Rising Along the Gulf Coast

The center of Hurricane Nate made landfall on the Mississippi Coast between Biloxi and Gulfport around 12:15.

Winds are becoming more southerly east of the center and storm surge levels are rising.

Water levels have come up dramatically in Biloxi and Pascagoula eastward along the Alabama coast.

The Pascagoula gauge trace:

Now over 3 feet above normal and rising.

And the gauge at the Bayou La Batre Bridge in southern Mobile County.

Flooding is reporting at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear on Mobile Bay.

4 feet of storm surge, debris and sand cover Bienville Blvd on Dauphin Island.

Chasers along the Mississippi Coast have been sending impressive videos of flooding, including about 3 feet of water entering the Golden Nugget in Bilxoi.
