Cloudy And Mild At Midday, But Even Warmer On Thursday

| January 10, 2018 @ 11:56 am

THE WEATHER AT 11:55 AM ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA

Clouds continue to cover the sky across Central Alabama as we start to move into the midday hour on your Wednesday. Radar is picking up a few very light sprinkles out there, with most of these probably not reaching the surface at this point. Temperatures are mild at this point, ranging from the upper 50s to the upper 60s from north to south. Birmingham was at 64ºF while the warm spot was Eufaula at 68ºF.

WEATHER FOR THE REST OF YOUR WEDNESDAY

Throughout the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening across Central Alabama, skies will remain cloudy and there is a very small possibility of a few isolated light showers or sprinkles to move across parts of the area. Afternoon highs will top out in the mid to upper 60s throughout the area from north to south. Showers chances will pick up a little for the late night and through the overnight hours, but those will remain scattered in nature. Overnight lows only drop down into the mid to upper 50s.

MORE RAIN BUT WARMER ON YOUR THURSDAY

Showers become more numerous throughout the day on Thursday, especially in the western half of the state. I wouldn’t be surprised with the warm temperatures that a few rumbles of thunder are embedded with some of those showers. Afternoon highs will top out in the mid-60s to the lower 70s across the area even with the cloud cover and rainfall. A cold front begins to make its approach, allowing for rain chances continue throughout the evening and overnight hours. The cold front will move into the northwestern parts just before sunrise on Friday. Lows will be in the lower 40s in the northwest to the lower 60s in the southeast.

ON THIS DAY IN WEATHER HISTORY
1800 – Savannah, GA, received a foot and a half of snow, and ten inches blanketed Charleston SC. It was the heaviest snowfall of record for the immediate Coastal Plain of the southeastern U.S.
