ANOTHER COLD SPRING MORNING: Here are some temperatures around daybreak across Alabama this morning…

Cullman 34
Decatur 34
Gadsden 36
Hueytown 38
Pell City 39
Jemison 40
Heflin 40
Dunnavant 42

This should be our last morning with frost issues until the fall… and today will feature a nice warm-up. With a good supply of sunshine, the high today will be near 70 degrees. Tonight will be clear and cool with a low in the 40s.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Our weather stays dry tomorrow; the sky will be partly to mostly sunny with a high in the mid 70s. Clouds roll in quickly tomorrow night, and rain moves in Sunday morning. Rain will be widespread through the afternoon and into Sunday night. No risk of severe weather for the northern half of the state, but SPC has defined a “marginal risk” for parts of South Alabama…

A few storms over the southern counties of the state could produce gusty winds, but there is very little surface based instability. I expect little, if any, thunder over North Alabama. This will be a good soaking rain with rain amounts between 2 and 3 inches for much of the state.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Alabama’s annual spring “A Day” game is tomorrow at 1:00 at Bryant Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa… it will be a perfect day for the game. With a sunny sky, temperatures will rise from the low 70s at kickoff into the mid 70s by the second half. There is no risk of rain.

NEXT WEEK: An upper trough hangs around early in the week; Monday and Tuesday will be cloudy with a chance of lingering rain at times; highs will be in the 65-70 degree range. The latter half of the week looks dry with highs back in the 70s. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
