Wetumpka Tornado Tentatively Rated as High-End EF2
The total tornado county for Saturday across Central Alabama is four.
The NWS in Birmingham reports that the Wetumpka Tornado is tentatively rated as an EF-2, although an engineer has been contacted to check a couple of structures of interest. Top winds are tentatively 135 mph but could be changed.
Gerald Satterwhite at the NWS reports that the same tornado continued along a path through Eclectic, ending just before Lake Martin. This would make the path length other 18 miles long. The tornado’s path was 700 yards wide. The Coosa River gauge on the Bibb Graves Bridge was destroyed.
He also notes that the Coosa County tornado southeast of Rockford along CR-101 was an EF-1 with top winds of 100 mph and a path length of 1.7 miles. The width was 150 yards.
The Autauga County tornado near Booth was an EF-1. The Dallas County tornado, which was near Tyler, was an EF-1. This tornado crossed the Alabama River into Autauga County before dissipating.
