SPC Mesoscale Discussion: Tornado Watch 8…

| March 3, 2019 @ 12:03 pm

SUMMARY…Supercell tornado potential will increase during the next 2 hours coincident with the increasing number and maturation of supercells over southeast AL and adjacent parts of southwest GA.

DISCUSSION…KEVX radar imagery as of 1800z shows a supercell in Walton County, FL moving east-northeast. The KEVX VAD displays a hodograph yielding 140 m2/s2 0-1km SRH when accounting for the observed storm motion. Stronger low-level shear is evident on the KMXX VAD and progged by model guidance (200-300 m2/s2 0-1km SRH) farther to the north in southeast AL (in the vicinity of KEOX and KMXX). As a result, expecting the tornado risk to increase substantially between 18z and 20z in association with the strongest low-level mesocyclones as they move across far southeast AL and into adjacent parts of GA.
