MOIST AIR HANGS AROUND: Don’t look for very much sunshine around here in coming days… a surface/upper low in the Gulf will spread deep moisture into Alabama this holiday weekend, with a cloudy sky and occasional showers. We might see a thunderstorm from time to time, but on the positive side we don’t expect any severe weather this weekend, and the rain won’t be especially heavy on this end of the state. Just be ready for a passing shower from time to time. Afternoon highs will be in the 76 to 80 degree range, and a gusty east wind will continue today and tomorrow north of the surface low.

That low will move inland by Sunday, and we stay on the moist side, so our weather won’t change much into early next week. Mostly cloudy, occasional showers and a few storms through at least Tuesday. Most communities around here will see 1 to 2 inches of rain during the next 3 days.

AT THE BEACH: Periods of rain are likely on the coast this weekend, with potential for some heavier rain at times. Only a few peeks of sunshine from time to time, and afternoon highs will be around 80. The sea water temperature at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab remains at 73 degrees. Also remember the surf will be pretty rough thanks to the broad low in the Gulf. No tropical storm here, but it still sufficient to stir up the ocean.

NEXT WEEK: A very moist airmass remains in place next week, so we will forecast scattered to numerous showers and storms on through mid-week, with highs around 80 degrees.

We are going on a holiday schedule as far as the Weather Xtreme videos are concerned; look for one per day through Monday… we will get back on the regular two a day schedule Tuesday. Enjoy the weekend!
