SPC Mesoscale Discussion: Tornado Watch 335…

| June 6, 2019 @ 12:51 pm

SUMMARY…Threat for water-loaded downbursts and brief tornadoes will continue across southern AL/MS and the western/central FL Panhandle for the next few hours.

DISCUSSION…Thunderstorm coverage and intensity has trended downward across southeast LA over the past hour or so while persistent redevelopment offshore and resultant training has led to continued thunderstorm activity across southern AL. Over the past hour or so, the most intense storms have been predominantly over far southeast LA where a theta-e maximum was co-located with southerly/southeasterly surface winds and strong surface vorticity. Threat for water-loaded downbursts and brief tornadoes will continue across southern AL/MS and the western/central FL Panhandle but increasing displacement from the better low to mid-level flow (currently extending from southeast LA into central MS) and less instability suggests more isolated events than experienced over southeast LA.
