| October 25, 2019 @ 9:20 am

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Northwestern Talladega County in east central Alabama…
Western Calhoun County in east central Alabama…
Eastern Shelby County in central Alabama…
Etowah County in northeastern Alabama…
St. Clair County in central Alabama…

* Until 1215 PM CDT.

* At 917 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Gadsden, Talladega, Pell City, Leeds, Moody, Chelsea, Rainbow City,
Attalla, Childersburg, Hokes Bluff, Springville, Odenville,
Wilsonville, Saks, Lincoln, Glencoe, Margaret, Argo, Weaver and
Ashville.

Additional rainfall of up to two inches is expected over the area.
This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
