Areal Flood Advisory For Parts Of Greene, Pickens, & Sumter Counties Until 4:15 PM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Pickens County in west central Alabama…
Greene County in west central Alabama…
Sumter County in west central Alabama…

* Until 415 PM CDT.

* At 119 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen
across portions of this area earlier today.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Demopolis, Livingston, Eutaw, York, Aliceville, Gordo, Reform,
Carrollton, Pickensville, Cuba, Forkland, Boligee, Union,
Gainesville, Epes, Ethelsville, Emelle, McMullen, Panola and West
Greene.

Additional rainfall of up to at least two inches is expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
