Lightning Is Frightening

Thanks to Mike McCormick for these images… he writes:

“James, wanted to share these pictures of the damage caused by a thunderstorm that moved through Wedowee on Tuesday. Lightening struck a tree in our yard causing it to fall on power and telephone lines. We were out of power for several hours and without telephone service until Wednesday. As you can see from the pictures my son Jordan took, the tree was badly burned and the woods caught on fire from the downed power lines. No one should believe summertime thunderstorms are not dangerous. Downed power lines are even more dangerous. The fire department came out but couldn’t spray the fire because of the hot lines. The temperature was close to 95 degrees when the storm rolled through.”
