New Tornado Watch Issued for Parts of Central Alabama Until 1:00 am Friday

A new Tornado Watch has been issued to replace the old PDS Tornado Watch for the following counties in Central Alabama: Autauga, Bibb, Calhoun, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Hale, Jefferson, Marengo, Perry, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, and Montgomery.

• A couple strong tornadoes possible
• Isolated hail up to ping pong ball size possible
• Isolated damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph possible

The Tornado Watch will be allowed to expire for the following counties in Central Alabama: Blount, Cherokee, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Sumter, Walker, and Winston.

NWS Huntsville is currently on a call with the SPC about a potential watch for portions of North Alabama.
