Areal Flood Advisory for Portions of Bibb, Jefferson, Shelby Co. Until 2 am

…FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM CST WEDNESDAY…

* WHAT…Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of central Alabama, including the following
counties, Bibb, Jefferson and Shelby.

* WHEN…Until 200 AM CST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 938 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Alabaster, Pelham, Helena, Leeds,
Moody, Calera, Chelsea, Montevallo, Columbiana, Wilsonville,
Indian Springs Village, Vincent, Harpersville, Westover,
Wilton, Oak Mountain State Park, Oak Mountain Amphitheater
and Shelby County Airport.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
