Midday Nowcast: More Clouds than Sun

| February 9, 2023 @ 10:15 am

Most of the rain is over for North/Central Alabama as the main area of rain has shifted south and east of the area. We continue to have a mix of sun and clouds and there remains a threat of a few strong storms across South Alabama where SPC maintains a low end “marginal risk” (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms there.

Temperatures are generally in the lower 60s. Tonight will be partly cloudy and chilly with lows in the 40s.

TOMORROW: Our Friday will be a mostly cloudy day with some rain possible, mainly over the southern counties. The high tomorrow will be in the lower 60s for most places.

WEEKEND WEATHER: A deep upper low will move slowly through the state Saturday with periods of light rain and colder temperatures. For now, it still looks like the forecast thermal values don’t support any chance of light snow, but again, upper-level lows can bring surprises, and we could see some excitement somewhere as it swings through the state. Highs Saturday will range from the 40s into the 50s. Then, on Sunday, the sky becomes sunny with highs in the 50s.

NEXT WEEK: The week starts off dry, but then our next front brings rain and storms back to the state Tuesday night. The front then stalls across the state, keeping our weather into the latter half of the week. Highs most of next week will be in the 60s to low 70s through the week.
