Midday Nowcast: Mainly Sunny and Hot

Pretty routine weather for early June in Alabama with a mostly sunny sky, humid conditions, and highs in the mid to upper 80s. During the afternoon and evening hours, expect those random, showers and storms. The chance of any one spot seeing rain will be in the the 10-20% range. Little change in the forecast for the weekend, but it will be hotter as more and more locations will start seeing afternoon highs in the 90s.

USA BRIEF: A tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico is forecast to track southward and away from Florida; However, this system will enhance rainfall potential across South Florida through Friday. Meanwhile, heavy to excessive rainfall and severe thunderstorms are expected for portions of the Plains. For the Great Lakes, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, new daily record high temperatures are expected later Friday.

INTO NEXT WEEK: The weather pattern persist into of next week as well, with no signs of a big ticket weather item showing up impacting Alabama the next seven to ten days. Expect hot and humid weather, highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s, and random, daily showers and storms on the radar during the afternoon and evening hours.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION TWO: At 1000 AM CDT, the center of Tropical Depression Two was located near latitude 26.7 North, longitude 86.3 West. The depression is moving toward the south near 5 mph and this motion is expected to increase slightly during the day today and tonight. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts. The system is forecast to weaken later today and tonight, and it is forecast to degenerate into a remnant low on Saturday. The estimated minimum central pressure, based on data from the Air Force Hurricane Hunters, is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).
