It remains a mostly cloudy day with some lingering showers over the northern half of the state. It is cooler and breezy with temperatures struggling to climb out of the 60s.

Tonight, the rain will wind down and it will be a chilly night as lows fall into the 40s.

ACROSS THE USA: Severe thunderstorms will shift into the Ohio Valley, Southeast, and Mid-Atlantic today. The main threats will be a few tornadoes, isolated large hail and damaging winds. Heavy rainfall will be possible from the southern/central Appalachians to the northern Mid-Atlantic. A strong Bering storm continues to push into Southwest Alaska producing blizzard conditions through today.

TOMORROW & THE WEEKEND: Expect tons of sunshine tomorrow and highs in the low 70s. The weekend will be warm and dry, featuring lots of sunshine Saturday and Sunday; expect highs around 80° Saturday and low 80s on Sunday. Lows will be in the mid 40s Saturday morning; this will be our coldest morning. Lows Sunday will be in the low to mid 50s.

NEXT WEEK: An upper ridge will set the stage for the warmest week so far this year with daily highs in the low to mid 80s. There could even be some upper 80s across South Alabama through the week. The ridge will also keep the big rain producers west and north of the Deep South and most of the week looks dry. However, a few showers are possible late Thursday and into Friday, but this doesn’t look like a severe storm setup.
