Pressure in Debby Down to 980 Millibars

| August 4, 2024 @ 11:14 pm

The pressure in Hurricane Debby continues to drop tonight. The Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters just found a reading of 980 millibars.

If this is confirmed, it will represent at least a 30 millibar pressure drop in the past 24 hours since 1 a.m. CDT Sunday morning. This would meet the criteria of rapid intensification via pressure which is 24 millibars in 24 hours.

During that same period, the winds went from 30 to 75 mph, also meeting the wind criteria for rapid intensification, which is 30 knots in 24 hours or 35 mph in 24 hours.
