Remember this one by Loverboy?

“Everybody’s working for the weekend
Everybody wants a little romance
Everybody’s goin’ off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, oh
You want a piece of my heart
You better start from start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets go”

BRING IT ON: Time to bring on the weekend we have been looking for. Lots of sunshine on a daily basis through Sunday. While nights and early mornings will stay cold, afternoons will be delightful, with a high in the upper 50s today, low 60s tomorrow, and mid 60s Sunday. That is the easy part of the forecast; beyond the weekend things get complicated.

MODEL MADNESS NEXT WEEK: A short wave will still bring a chance of some rain and possibly a few thunderstorms to Alabama on Tuesday of next week, but check out the Weather Xtreme video to see the 06Z GFS solution. That lead wave weakens, and a surface front stalls out around here, setting the state for unsettled weather through mid-week. That run hints at rain at times on Wednesday, followed by a second wave that digs through the Deep South, producing a deepening surface low just northwest of here, along with an attendant severe weather threat for Alabama on Thursday. This is the first time this has shown up, so let’s wait on the 12Z run before we make any adjustments. But, the bottom line is that next week is beginning to look mild and rather stormy at times.

With the models struggling with next week, needless to say we have little confidence in how the mid-month period goes; the negative AO still hints at a cold snap, but it comes and goes in the operational runs. This is March, our most changeable month, so anything goes. Stay tuned.
