Mesoscale Discussion Issued; Tornado Watch Likely To Be Issued This Afternoon

| February 12, 2025 @ 11:45 am

Moments ago, the Storm Prediction Center issued a mesoscale discussion for central Louisiana, the southern half of Mississippi, and portions of west central Alabama. As they continue to monitor the severe weather risk today, they plan to issue a tornado watch to cover this threat. The first watch may only cover a portion of west central Alabama, but additional watches will likely be needed later on for more of southern and central Alabama.

It is uncertain exactly when the tornado watch will be issued, but all severe weather hazards are on the table, including the potential for a few strong tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds. Please remain weather aware this afternoon and evening, and make sure you have multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings.
