Early Afternoon Radar Check: Isolated Severe Storms In Southern MS; Rain Shield Lifting North Across AL

| February 12, 2025 @ 1:26 pm

Isolated severe storms have developed to our southwest in southern Mississippi and central Louisiana (red circled area). So far, there is nothing severe in Alabama. The rain shield is steadily lifting northward which should allow for the atmosphere to begin destabilizing over the southern half of the state. This will in turn create a favorable environment for severe weather later this afternoon and into the evening as well.

To cover this severe weather risk, a tornado watch will be issued for portions of the state soon. Please remain weather aware this afternoon and evening!
