Thunder Shows Up

Showers and some embedded thunder are moving northeastward across Alabama this afternoon. The main activity extends from Cullman and Blount Counties through Jefferson and St. Clair, Shelby and Talladega, Coosa, Clay, Tallapoosa, Elmore and Macon Counties.

The cell between Moody and Trussville has been producing some lightning and has very heavy rain.

More lightning was just north of Pell City. Heavy rain extends from Pell City down to east of Sylacauga.

One of the heaviest showers in the state was in the Shorter area along I-85 in South Central Alabama.

Winds gusted to 48 mph at the Birmingham Airport right after the front passed.

Pea sized hail was reported just south of Chelsea. Pea sized hail just reported in Leeds as well.

The temperature at Birmingham dropped 11 degrees in one hour. It is 44F now at the Airport.

At Bear Creek, Alan reports 38F with a few snow flakes mixed in.
