Severe T-Storm Warning for Calhoun, Talladega Co. Until 7PM

| May 2, 2025 @ 6:10 pm

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 7:00 p.m. for Talladega and Calhoun counties in east central Alabama. At 6:06 p.m., the National Weather Service in Birmingham reported a line of strong to severe storms stretching from Gadsden to near Columbiana, pushing eastward at about 45 miles per hour.

These storms are packing a punch with wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and hail up to the size of quarters. That kind of wind can bring down tree limbs and cause damage to roofs, siding, and even power lines. The hail could ding up vehicles and windows, so it’s best to get those under shelter if you can.

Communities in the path include Anniston, Jacksonville, Lincoln, Childersburg, and the Talladega Superspeedway, along with places like Alpine Bay, Alexandria, Hobson City, and West End-Cobb Town. Folks across this region should take action now. Get to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy structure and stay away from windows until the storm passes.
