| May 2, 2025 @ 6:18 pm

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for central Perry County and northwestern Dallas County until 7:00 p.m. this evening. At 6:16 p.m., radar was tracking a strong storm near Uniontown, pushing off to the northeast at around 30 miles per hour.

This storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and hail as large as half dollars. That kind of wind and hail can easily cause damage to vehicles, roofs, and siding, as well as knock down trees and power lines.

Folks in places like Marion, Uniontown, Heiberger, Judson College, Sprott, and the Perry County Correctional Center need to head indoors and take shelter in a sturdy building. Stay in an interior room away from windows and wait until the storm has passed before venturing back outside.
