Severe Thunderstorm Watch Adjusted and Extended for Central and East Alabama

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has canceled the Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Blount, Fayette, Lamar, and Walker counties. However, the watch remains in effect for a large portion of central and eastern Alabama.

The watch has also been extended until 9:00 p.m. for the following counties: Autauga, Bibb, Calhoun, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Etowah, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, and Tuscaloosa. Storms in these areas still carry the potential for damaging winds and hail as they continue pushing eastward.
