Severe T-Storm Warning for Calhoun, Clay, Cleburne, Randolph, Talladega Co. Until 8:15PM

| May 2, 2025 @ 6:51 pm

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for parts of east central Alabama, including Talladega, Randolph, Calhoun, Cleburne, and Clay counties, until 8:15 PM. At 6:47 PM, a line of strong to severe storms stretched from near Mars Hills down through Mount Cheaha, Winterboro, Bon Air, and just west of Wilsonville, all pushing east at about 45 miles per hour.

These storms are capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail. Radar is tracking the activity, and the main concern is damage to roofs, siding, trees, and vehicles from both the wind and hail.

Some of the communities in the path of this line include Anniston, Lineville, Oak Grove, Alpine, Gantts Quarry, Chandler Springs, Tennant, and parts of Cheaha State Park, including the Coleman Lake area. Folks at Sylacauga Municipal Airport, Lake Cleburne, and other outdoor spots should take quick action now.

If you’re in the warned area, get inside a sturdy building, away from windows. These storms have a history of producing damaging wind and hail, and could easily knock down trees or power lines along their path.
