Weekly Drought Update: Slight Uptick In Drought Conditions Over Southeast Alabama

The newest drought monitor update is in as of this morning. Similarly to last week, the vast majority of the state remains drought free. However, there has been a slight increase in the area and severity of drought conditions over southeast Alabama. Approximately 2.16% of the state (confined to SE AL) is now in a level 2 moderate drought, with 7.43% of the state in a level 1 minor drought. Luckily, additional rainfall is expected over the next several days, with some areas over SE AL seeing potentially more than 2″ of rain.
