| May 11, 2025 @ 11:24 pm

A band of storms that was hanging out near the Mississippi State Line this afternoon and started lifting northeast tonight slowly and is now crossing the Birmingham Metro with lots of loud thunder and very heavy rain.

A Flood Advisory is in effect until 2:15 AM CDT for portions of Bibb, Jefferson, and Shelby counties, including the Birmingham metro. Thunderstorms have dropped 0.5 to 1 inch of rain with an additional 0.5 to 1 inch possible, leading to minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Residents in areas like Birmingham, Hoover, Homewood, Vestavia, Alabaster, and Bessemer should watch for ponding on roads and elevated stream levels overnight.

The storms should not be severe, but they will produce lots of lightning and thunder.
