Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southwestern Cullman County Until 4:30 AM

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southwestern Cullman County, in effect until 4:30 AM.

At 4:05 AM, radar indicated a severe thunderstorm near Smith Dam, about 8 miles southeast of Arley, moving quickly east at 50 miles per hour. This storm is packing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour along with quarter-size hail.

Folks in areas including Wilburn, Bremen, Arkadelphia, Dodge City, Black Bottom, Crane Hill, Colony, Garden City, Smith Lake, and Hanceville should prepare now. Expect possible damage to vehicles from hail and the potential for wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

If you’re in the path of this storm, seek shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and stay away from windows. This storm means business—don’t wait to take action.
