Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southeastern Lauderdale, Southeastern Colbert, and Northern Lawrence Counties Until 6:15 PM CDT
At 5:32 PM CDT, the National Weather Service in Huntsville issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southeastern Lauderdale County, southeastern Colbert County, and northern Lawrence County in northwestern Alabama. A severe thunderstorm was located near Tuscumbia, moving east at 40 mph.
This storm is capable of producing quarter size hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph. Radar indicates the storm has the potential to cause hail damage to vehicles, along with wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations in the path of this storm include:
Northwest Alabama Regional Airport, Florence, Ne Smith, North Courtland, Tuscumbia, Ford City, Red Bank, Colbert Heights, Leighton, and Elgin.
Precautionary Actions: Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 10:00 PM CDT for north central and northwestern Alabama. Stay alert in case conditions rapidly worsen.
