Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northeastern Jackson and Northeastern DeKalb Counties Until 8:30 PM CDT

A strong storm is moving across far northeastern Alabama this evening. At 7:50 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Stevenson or close to Bridgeport, moving northeast at 40 miles per hour.

This storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail. These conditions could damage vehicles and cause harm to roofs, siding, and trees.

Communities that may be affected include Bridgeport, Higdon, Sulpher Springs, Ider, and Long Island.

If you are in the path of this storm, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. A Tornado Watch also remains in effect until 10:00 PM CDT for northeastern Alabama and parts of Middle Tennessee. Stay alert and be ready to act quickly if warnings are upgraded.
