The National Weather Service in Huntsville has extended a Heat Advisory for Lauderdale, Colbert, and Franklin Counties in northwestern Alabama, now in effect until 7:00 PM CDT Sunday.

Heat index values are expected to reach up to 107 degrees due to a combination of hot temperatures and high humidity. These conditions can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.

Residents in the advisory area should take precautions such as drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned spaces, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun, and checking on elderly family members, neighbors, and others who may be vulnerable.
