The Alabama News Center — Can’t Miss Alabama: Coca-Cola Amphitheater welcomes Thomas Rhett, Jason Isbell to the concert stage

Enjoy back-to-back concerts this weekend with Thomas Rhett: Better In Boots Tour and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. Rhett will perform Friday, June 27, and Isbell Saturday, June 28. Both concerts will be at the new Coca-Cola Amphitheater on the site of the former Carraway Hospital in Birmingham. Rhett, a country music singer and songwriter, is known for hit songs like “Die a Happy Man,” “Remember You Young” and “Marry Me.” Isbell, a Grammy Award winner, is a former member of Drive-By Truckers. Some of his hits are “Cover Me Up,” “Elephant” and “Alabama Pines.”

Rickney B. Hunter Miles for Minds
The inaugural Rickney B. Hunter Miles for Minds 3K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run will be Saturday, June 28, at DeBardeleben Park in Bessemer and surrounding areas. The 3K Run starts at 8 a.m. and the 1-Mile Fun Run starts at 9 a.m. This movement honors the life and legacy of Hunter and shines a light on men’s mental health during Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. An on-site counselor will be available, plus light refreshments and face painting. Spectators of any age are welcome to attend, with free admission. Lawn chairs are permitted.

– City of Mobile’s 4th of July Celebration, USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park.
– Smith Lake Park 4th of July Fireworks Festival.
– Thunder on the Mountain, Vulcan Park and Museum in Birmingham.
– Independence Day in Prattville.
