Alabama 811 | Know What's Below.

Update at 6:30 am

| April 3, 2010 @ 6:32 am | Reply

A line of strong thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain had moved into the extreme western sections of Alabama. At 6:30 am, the leading edge of the line of storms stretched from just west of Carrollton and Aliceville in Pickens County to just west of Fayette in Fayette County to Haleyville in Winston County to Rogersville in Lauderdale County.

There were no warnings in effect at 6:30 am, but the NWS in Huntsville did issue a warning for the Northwest Alabama counties around 6:00 am.

Damaging wind is the most likely issue with these storms with the wind just off the ground screaming northward at around 50 knots. Any severe weather that might occur is likely to be very isolated but can come on rapidly. My best advice is to be environmentally conscious and aware of the weather around you. If it should turn suddenly threatening, seek shelter immediately even if you don’t hear a warning.
