Neat physics on the water

After James and I pioneered the 50-mile roundtrip from Bluff Creek to Bankhead Lock and Dam in my 15′ Manatee boat with a 35 hp Johnson engine in 2008, and Jason Simpson and I made it to Tuscaloosa and back last year (100 miles, the last 20 in the dark with no GPS), this year my brother-in-law (Jonathan Hooks of Hooks Law Firm) and I went through. But, we got to see some neat physics, including the view of a barge going through the lock from the lower lake. The water really blows out of there, producing large waves (see 3:00 on movie).
