Notes from All Over
* About 1/2 inch snow cover over grassy areas and roadways in Sewannee and Winchester in South Tennessee early this afternoon.
* NWS/Huntsville continues a Winter Weather Advisory for the extreme NE Alabama counties of Jackson, DeKalb and Madison. It is in effect until 3:00 a.m. Monday.
* Winter Weather Advisory until 9:00 p.m. for Colbert, Cullman, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Marshall and Morgan.
* At midday, Muscle Shoals had light snow with 28 degrees, wind gusts to 29 and a wind chill of 15. Decatur had 27 degrees with flurries, west winds gusting to 30 and a wind chill of 12.
* On Mt. LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains, 20 degrees with 8 inches of snow. Newfound Gap had 10 inches.
* In North Carolina, Beech Mountain has 8 inches of snow. Mt. Mitchell has the same amount.
* Minneapolis/St. Paul had a low of zero this morning with 18 inches of snow on the ground. Cannon Falls, Minnesota has 27 inches on the ground.
* Baldwin, Wisconsin is covered with 23 inches of snow and a temperature of 3 below zero. There is 30 inches on the ground at Lake Elmo, including 13 inches in the last 24 hours.
* It was 51 below zero in Ft. Yukon, Alaska this morning making the third morning in a row with low temperatures colder than minus 50.
* 35% of the land area of the lower 48 states had a snow cover this morning.
* 26 below zero at Crane Lake, Minnesota was the coldest in the lower 48 this morning. That was 116 degrees colder than the warmest yesterday, which was a summer-like 90, at McAllen, Texas.
BACK TO THE PRESENT
Radar this afternoon indicates snow flurries all the way from Central Alabama to Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. These snow flurries are a bit more prominent from Tennessee northward and especially from the Ohio River northward. Lots of Michigan getting snow.

* Snow flurries 5 miles north of Montevallo in the Moore’s Crossroads community 4 miles due west of Shelby County Airport. Some of the snowflakes were dime size.
* Snow flurries at Weogufka, 10 miles south of Sylacauga.
* Flurries in Helena.
* Lizard Lope on Lookout Mountain near Collinsville reporting 28 degrees with moderate snow with big flakes starting to accumulate on roof tops and grassy areas. Reported by Vic Bell.
* Moderate snow in the Williams community north of Jacksonville in Calhoun County with snow sticking to roof tops and grassy areas.
