Second Wettest September in Birmingham

| September 24, 2011 @ 10:30 am | Reply

So far this month, 12.02 inches of rain has fallen at the Birmingham Airport.

This is a little more than an inch short of the all time record rainfall for any September in Birmingham, which occurred in 1906.

There is not much chance that we will manage enough rainfall between now and the end of the month to break that record.

Still, it has been an impressive month for rainfall across much of North Central Alabama, including parts of Pickens, Fayette, Walker, Tuscaloosa, much of Jefferson, northern Shelby, Blount, southern Cullman, Etowah, western St. Clair and DeKalb Counties, where over ten inches of rain has fallen.

An area over southern Blount County between Locust Fork and Oneonta down into extreme western St. Clair County has seen over 15 inches of rain this month.
