A gorgeous day is in progress across North and Central Alabama with lots of blue skies and sunshine. There was patchy dense fog in the valleys and near bodies of water over North Alabama early this morning, but a review of Skycams across the Tennessee valley revealed that the fog had burned off.

Readings are in the lower 70s for the most part. It was 68F at Gadsden at noon, and 81F at Montgomery.

Temperatures will warm nicely in the dry and clear air across the area this afternoon, topping out between 78F-82F. A few high clouds were massing to our northwest and heading southeast. You will see them later today and tonight. Overnight lows will be in the lower and middle 50s again with a few 40s thrown in for good measure.

NEXT WEATHERMAKER: A big bowling ball of an upper low is near Chicago this morning. It will rotate around the upper Midwest for the next few days. It will send a cold front southward as well. The high clouds to the northwest are an advance indicator of this system. Skies will be partly cloudy on Sunday, with temperatures again warming well into the 80s. Clouds should increase late in the day and we could see an isolated shower or storm overnight.
