DRY THROUGH SUNDAY: Not much change in the weather pattern is expected through the weekend, with mostly sunny warm days and clear pleasant nights. Expect highs in the 80-84 degree range tomorrow and Friday with a good supply of sunshine both days. The weekend will be just slightly cooler with a high near 80 Saturday and Sunday. Lows hold generally in the 50s, with some 40s for the colder pockets.

We note today is the 8th consecutive day with no measurable rain for Birmingham and most of Alabama.

NEXT WEEK: The GFS and the ECMWF continue to hint that a broad tropical low or wave will move into Alabama with potential for showers at some point. The GFS remains faster, with showers possible as early as Monday, while the ECMWF holds the risk off until Tuesday. And, both models suggest the best rain could be very well to the east of Alabama. Simply too early to be really specific, but for now we will mention some risk of showers on Tuesday, and fine tune the forecast as the event gets closer.

PHILIPPE: The lone tropical storm over the Atlantic basin could briefly become a hurricane before heading out to the open North Atlantic later in the week. It will stay far from land. The rest of the Atlantic basin for now is quiet.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes.
