WARMING TREND AHEAD: The sky cleared right on time today across Alabama, and we are on target for a nice warm-up in the days ahead. But, before we hit the warming trend, we will have a cold night ahead. With a clear sky and light wind, most places will wind up in the mid to upper 20s early tomorrow across North and Central Alabama, making it one of the coldest nights so far this season.

Look for a bright sunny sky tomorrow and Friday, with upper 50s tomorrow, followed by low to mid 60s on Friday.

WEEKEND FORECAST: The 12Z GFS is slower with the next rain producer for Alabama, so at this point it looks like our weekend will be dry. Saturday will feature a good supply of sunshine with a high in the mid 60s. Clouds increase Sunday, but for now it looks like the rain will hold just north and west of Alabama, and we stay in the 60s.

NEXT WEEK: The surface front to the west will be parallel to the upper air flow, so cities like Memphis and Shreveport could see heavy rain Sunday and Monday. That rain slowly moves into Alabama Monday afternoon, and becomes more widespread Monday night and Tuesday. A few thunderstorms could be involved Monday evening, but we don’t expect any severe weather. And, Tuesday will be much colder with rain falling at times with a high only in the low 50s.

Wednesday of next week could be a rather raw day, with lingering clouds, some risk of morning drizzle or snow flurries, and a high only in the 40s. See the Weather Xtreme video for details.
