Nice Afternoon

A great afternoon is in progress across Central Alabama today after a chilly start. Morning lows ranged from 32F at Pinson to 36F at Tuscaloosa, 37F at Birmingham and Anniston to 42F at Calera.

Temperatures are edging into the lower 70s in most locations under ample sunshine. Tuscaloosa and Birmingham had made it by 2 p.m. Anniston wasn’t far behind. Some high clouds are spreading across the far southern regions of the area, but regional radars are quiet. You have to go back into southeastern Texas and southwestern Louisiana to find showers. Skies will become partly cloudy overnight, but lows will run about ten degrees above those of last night, averaging in the middle and upper 40s.

FOR YOUR SUNDAY: We continue to track a weakening upper level low that is tracking out of southern Arizona into New Mexico. This low has helped to bring precipitation to a good bit of the Lone Star State in the past 24 hours. It will lift northeast, dragging showers and storms through Oklahoma , Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas today. Severe weather is possible over the Arklatex. Here in Alabama, we will see increasing clouds through the day with a chance of showers as moisture levels increase. Storms may work into the picture overnight as well, especially after midnight. Highs today will be In the upper 60s. Lows will be in the upper 50s.

SPRING BREAK/SPRING BREAK VOODOO EDITION: Persistent subtropical high along the East Coast for the next two weeks means warm and generally dry conditions for places like the Gulf Coast, the Mouse’s House, the Smokies and Washington DC. Arizona. The West looks cold and damp by next weekend, so not so good news there. Where are you heading for spring break?
